King Pickett Wants To Be An 8-Time World Champion Tie-Down Roper

King Pickett Wins 19U Tie-Down World Title

We're already seeing great things from young tie-down roper King Pickett. The young phenom is sitting fourth in the average at the Clark County Fair and Rodeo in Logandale, Nevada, meaning he's currently in the short round with just one performance left to go.

We first met Pickett back at the 2017 Junior NFR, where he had to battle it out for three rounds with some of the toughest 19-and-under tie-down roping competition around to win his world title. Only four competitors earned a spot in the shoot-out style competition, one fast time from each of the long rounds, and the average champion.

Those four then went head to head for another three rounds, eliminating the slowest competitor, or a competitor with a no-time, after each round. Pickett had just a couple minutes to prepare between each of his runs during the intense format where he eventually reigned supreme.

Because of his phenomenal efforts in the junior rodeo game, Pickett now leads the tie-down roping in The Rank, FloRodeo's ultimate junior rodeo rankings.
