The second stop on Pro Rodeo Canada's SMS Equipment Pro Tour is set for June 24-26 at the Wainwright Stampede in east central Alberta.

In its 10th year as part of the Pro Tour, Wainwright offers lucrative purses, three full performances over the first two days and a finals Sunday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern.

Included in the 2022 lineup are several athletes returning to defend their titles.

Third generation bronc rider and 2019 Wainwright winner, Dawson Hay, will climb aboard Vold Rodeo's Stack Em Up on Friday night. This is the same draw world and Canadian Champ Zeke Thurston won a round on at last year's Canadian Finals Rodeo.

The 2019 Canadian Bareback Champion, Orin Larsen (another returning Wainwright Champ) will team up with Duffy Rodeo's White Out - also on Friday - while CFR bull rider Lonnie West is excited about his Saturday night matchup, Vold's Big Bird. This bull just took Wyatt Gleeson to a share of top spot at Stavely Rodeo a few days ago.

On the timed event side of things, reigning Canadian Barrel Racing Champion, Justine Elliott, will run 10th in Saturday evening's draw. The talented cowgirl is looking for her second consecutive Wainwright win.

In the steer wrestling event, much-celebrated Curtis Cassidy, winner of 12 Canadian titles and the defending Wainwright Champion, joins a host of other talented bull doggers aiming at the Wainwright leaderboard.

Tie-down roping standouts include Texan Ty Harris (pictured). The 2019 CFR qualifier and reserve Wainwright Champ has three wins since returning to Canadian competition a few weeks ago. Harris would like nothing better than to add another Wainwright buckle to his collection.

In the team roping, World Champion heeler Jeremy Buhler (roping with NFR header Rhen Richard) and World Champion header Levi Simpson (teamed with Ryan Motes) represent only a small number of talented ropers in that event.
