The Format:

Known as the Superbowl of the PBR and the richest bull riding event in the world with it's $2.2 million purse, the finals promises the be an exciting event for anyone tuning in, but just how does one go from qualifier to millionaire?

The Go-Rounds: During rounds one to five, the finals qualifiers will compete on one bull each night, earning points that will be added to their season points total each time they are able to place in a round. 

The Championship Round: After the fifth round on Sunday, the competitors scores - not their season/finals points - are added together and the 15 competitors with the highest total scores will compete one last time in a championship round on Sunday.

The Points System: Points at the 2019 PBR World Finals are awarded as follows:

The Event Winner: The competitor who comes out of the championship round with the most total points become the event - or finals - winner and will receive the event title and $300,000.

The World Champion: The competitor with the highest points total - including season points, finals go-round points, and championship round points - becomes the world champion for 2019 and will receive $1 million.

BREAKING: WCRA Extends $1M Opportunity To Youth Athletes

The World Champions Rodeo Alliance (WCRA) announced in a press release today the creation of their Youth Division that will give young competitors the opportunity to not only compete in their own league, but also have a chance to qualify for the $1 Million Major events. Starting December 2, 2019 youth aged 13 and up competing in girls breakaway roping, barrel racing, team roping heading and heeling, tie-down roping, and steer wrestling can begin to nominate rodeos in the Virtual Rodeo Qualifier (VRQ) through Division Youth (DY).

“I’ll just look it up on my phone on the way to the rodeo which rodeos I’m going to and put in the dates,” said Paden Bray about nominating rodeos in the World Champion Rodeo Alliance’s (WCRA) Virtual Rodeo Qualifier app. “I’m going to this rodeo on Thursday, this rodeo on Friday and the next one on Saturday and just plan it out. Then it’s just an additional entry fee when you nominate whatever rodeos you want to nominate.”

Durazo Wins Canadian Bull Riding Title

2019 Canadian Champion: Brooke Wills

First time's the charm for the 2019 Canadian Champion Barrel Racer Brooke Wills who took home the title on her first trip to the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Red Deer, Alberta. Wills started off her rookie appearance at the CFR by knocking down two barrels, but the first-time jitters didn't last long.

Thurston Wins Canadian Title

He was the 2016 world champion, multi-time Calgary Stampede champion, he's won Houston, and just about any large rodeo you can think of, but he's been after the Canadian title since he was a kid and has finally checked his home country's highest honor off of his bucket list. Not only did Zeke Thurston win the 2019 Canadian Saddle Bronc Riding title, but he made sure of it by running away with the competition.
