Rodeo Recap: Mucho Dinero & Pedro Double Win, We Love Rodeo Moms

The second rodeo weekend in May was quieter in the PRCA after a larger push last weekend. Although the checks were smaller, big names like Clay Smith and Paul Eaves, Tiany Schuster, Jacobs Crawley, and Sage Kimzey still came out to play and add another win to the many it will take to qualify for the WNFR.

This weekend did see some top horses in the Canadian—and worldwide—bucking horse game, some steer wrestlers who are itching to run a few more in Checotah, OK, and some very luck rodeo "kids" who thanked their mamas over the weekend.

Vold Rodeo’s Mucho Dinero & Pedro Win Stavely, Alberta

Canada has long been known as a dominating force in the saddle bronc and bareback riding game, not for its cowboys—although there are some undeniably talented athletes there too—but for the bucking horses that Canadian stock contractors continue to produce. Calgary Stampede, Outlaw Buckers Rodeo, and more recently C5 Rodeo have made a name for themselves by owning and producing some of the baddest buckers around.

Also on that list of names is Wayne Vold Rodeo, who had two familiar bucking horses in the draw at the Stavely Indoor Pro Rodeo over the weekend matched up with some worthy cowboys.

2015 WNFR bareback rider Seth Hardwick hopped aboard Vold Rodeo’s Mucho Dinero for 87.5 points and the win in the bareback riding. 2016 Canadian Champion saddle bronc rider Clay Elliott matched that score in his event on Vold Rodeo’s Pedro, also taking the win.

Tyler Pearson & Other Top Steer Wrestlers Get Ready To Change Things Up This Weekend

The top steer wrestlers in the world have been hammering away all season long to hold on to their top spots in the PRCA standings, but this weekend they’ll change it up and hit the jackpot pen at the Duvall's 40th Annual Steer Wrestling Jackpot in Checotah, Oklahoma. The reigning world champion steer wrestler is slated to attend after a strong weekend of PRCA competition.

Of the nine rodeos over the weekend, Tyler Pearson picked up a second-place check at the Butterfield Stage Days rodeo in Bridgeport, Texas, and a fourth-place check-in Perkins, Oklahoma, at the Grey Snow Annual Rodeo. The Louisville, Mississippi, cowboy has had another strong year and currently sits in spot No. 3 in the steer wrestling world standings

Other standout competitors that organizers say are slated to throw their name in the hat for the jackpot are 2016 World Champion steer wrestler Tyler Waguespack, 2018 The American steer wrestling champion Matt Reeves, 2017 College National Finals Rodeo Champion Denver Berry, and other competitors at the top of the PRCA standings.
