Top 5: Rodeo Arena Power Couples

She rides fast horses and he can ride a spinning bull or spin a rope with the best of them. So we're tipping our hats to some of rodeo's top power couples.

Top 5: Rodeo Arena Power Couples

Did he fall in love with the way she tamed that fire-breathing dragon of a barrel horse she was running? Was she impressed with his muscles as he wrestled a steer to the ground, or his ability to heel that nasty dragger?

Well . . . we may never know that. But we think we’ve found some couples that are pretty deadly inside the arena and wanted to give a shout-out to rodeo power couples that are making a name for themselves doing what they love with the one they love.

1 | New Couple On The Block: Jess Lockwood And Hailey Kinsel

The world of rodeo swooned when PBR superstar Jess Lockwood and WPRA record breaker Hailey Kinsel started posting pictures together on social media. There were a lot of female Lockwood fans that seemed upset over the pairing for some reason—we just can’t put our finger on it.

Many comments were also in support of the nephew of an also-famous barrel racer, Lisa Lockhart, joining up with Kinsel, who has steadily been becoming one of the hottest names in barrel racing for the past few years.

Yesterday, this power couple announced that they'd be making it official and tying the knot, and we can't wait for the world champion wedding that is now on the horizon!

2 | $5 Million Couple: Sherry Cervi and Cory Petska

There have been 33 WNFR qualifications, five world titles, and over $5 million between this pair. Cervi and Petska, married in September of 2014, are the epitome of a rodeo power couple with their mile-long list of accomplishments inside the rodeo arena.

Cervi—who won world titles in 1995, 1999, 2010, and 2013—played the role of "biggest fan" when the 2017 rodeo season didn’t quite go her way, but she got to watch her husband rope his way to his first world title. But I think the greatest proof of Cervi’s love for Petska was when she let him bust out her beloved "Stringray" at the Bob Feist Invitational in 2017.

Anyone who knows a barrel racer knows just how hard it is for them to let someone else on their horse, let alone one as special as that little yellow mare.

3 | Wedding Planning And The Rodeo Trail: Tyler Waguespack And Sarah Rose McDonald

There is a wedding on the horizon for rodeo couple Tyler Waguespack and Sarah Rose McDonald. I can only imagine a rodeo entry book next to a wedding magazine on the dash of the truck, but maybe that’s just the rodeo romantic in me?

The 2016 world champion steer wrestler will wed the 2014 WPRA Rookie of the Year in November of this year. The pair could enter Waguespack’s fourth and McDonald’s third WNFR’s as newlyweds—Waguespack is currently No. 4 in the world standings, and while McDonald is further down the pack at No. 36, there is still a lot of rodeo season left for her to make up the difference and get in to the top 15.

4 | Two Smalls Making It Big: Zac And Cayla Small

The young team roper and barrel racer were married October 29, 2016, shortly before the couple made their first trip to Las Vegas for the WNFR. These rodeo sweethearts spend their downtime in the arena together training colts. The two quite possibly have the best—or maybe the worst—story about Cayla getting bucked off with Zac standing by trying to help . . . sort of.

But hey, at least Cayla knows she literally has someone who will always pick her up when she falls. Read the story about Cayla’s wreck and her return to rodeo action HERE

5 | Rodeo Royalty: Callahan Crossley And Brady Tryan

“Rodeo royalty” is an understatement for this family. Callahan Crossley is the niece of 1987 NFR average saddle bronc riding champion and rodeo broadcaster Butch Knowles, making her the cousin to three-time WNFR steer wrestling qualifier Blake Knowles, and she's also the sister-in-law to Riley Minor, a last name synonymous with the team roping game.

Brady Tryan holds his own in the rodeo royalty category too. In 2010, Brady and his two brothers, Clay and Travis, became the first set of three brothers to qualifier for the WNFR at the same time. Clay is also a three-time world champion header.

The two met back in Ellensburg, Washington at the rodeo (of course) in 2013, and began dating that October. They may come from "rodeo royalty", but they're forging their own path in the rodeo world too: Callahan qualified for the 2016 Canadian Finals Rodeo and was the 2015 College National Finals Rodeo champion. Tryan is a two-time WNFR qualifier and consistently finishes within the top 50 in the world.
