The legend of Tuf Cooper -- the 2011, 2012, and 2014 PRCA tie-down roping champion -- continues to grow.
This week, Cooper exceeded Cody Ohl's regular-season tie-down roping earnings record of $165,460 in the August 28 WEATHER GUARD® PRCA World Standings with a whopping $166,097 total. He currently boasts a $33,513 lead over his next-closest competitor, Caleb Smidt, who ranks behind Cooper with $132,584.
Most recently, the 27-year-old Cooper raked in $5,565 at last weekend's Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo in San Juan Capistrano, California, after tying for second in tie-down roping. Just before that, he also tied for first in that event at the Horse Heaven Round-Up in Kennewick, Washington, where he earned $2,341.
Cooper and Smidt are also jockeying for position in the PRCA world all-around title battle. According to the most recent standings, Cooper also commands the lead in that race with $186,929 over Smidt's $143,632.
