While temperatures dipped below freezing at the first annual Texas Extreme Barrel Classic and Ultimate Texas Barrel Classic presented by WrapN3 Productions and 321 Action Video, renowned barrel horse trainer Sharin Hall showed no signs of cooling off this past weekend in Edna, Texas.

Hall started the week off with a bang, winning the first round of the Ultimate Futurity presented by Isabella Quarter Horses and the slot race aboard Dreaming Of Foose, which is by Foose and out of Hawks Dream Girl by Hawkinson.

Hall and the freakishly fast 4-year-old daughter of Foose posted a 16.370 to win the slot race and earn $15,000. Hall also took home $4,005 for winning the first round of the futurity.

"A couple years ago I said that I wanted a horse so fast that if I made mistakes, it would still clock," Hall said. "I purchased Dreaming Of Foose on www.barrelhorseworld.com sight unseen as a non-broke 2-year-old.

"I couldn't find a ride to my place for her at the time so I found a colt started to pick her up and get her started. When I got her home, I loved how athletic she felt. Then a few months later, I found her rolling in her lot and took her to the vet and we found out she had flipped her spleen."

Hall's veterinarian gave her two options on what to do with the filly. Hall decided that it was in God's hands, and when they were sedating the mare to put her on the trailer, the filly's spleen had flipped back to normal.

"I knew then and there that God had a plan for her and through that experience, it significantly increased my faith," Hall said.

Entered in the slot race, Hall didn't run Dreaming Of Foose until Friday night.

I drew up top of the ground in the slot race, and since I had competed at the Extreme the week before in Edna, I knew what I had to do," Hall said. "I focused on riding Dreaming Of Foose to the back side of the barrel, making sure that I kept her shoulder lifted to try and keep her round as she really likes to snap back and push off a barrel hard.
In the second round of the futurity, Hall and Dreaming Of Foose were 12th in the 1D with their time of 16.793 to earn another $527. With their combined time on two runs of 33.163, Hall was crowned the Ultimate Futurity champion.

"I thought the event was great. It was well ran and they seemed to be very organized," Hall said. "As a trainer, I am very thankful for someone to produce that kind of event with that much added money to run at, and I appreciate the sponsors that stepped in and helped make it happen."

For the weekend, Hall won close to $25,000, a Polaris ATV donated by Schuemack Construction, a beautiful crystal trophy donated by Isabella Quarter Horses, a diamond and ruby trophy ring donated by Torin Bales Jewelers, a portrait by Angela Festervan, and a Hidez Compression Suit donated by Hidez USA.
