Players to Watch

Marcie Silberman, Moravian Catcher/First Base

Hard-hitting sophomore slugger Marcie Silberman heads into the Landmark Conference Tournament with a league-leading 14 home runs. Her ability to hit the long ball is fueling other Landmark-bests of 50 runs batted in and a slugging percentage of .835, second in the conference.

What's more, Silberman ranks fourth nationally in home runs — just two off of the nation-leading pace — and is 30th among all Div. III batters in slugging percentage. .

Aubrynn Arcement and Alex Pley, Catholic Pitchers

Catholic boasts a potent one-two punch at pitcher with Aubrynn Arcement and Alex Pley. Arcement has throwing 102 1/3 innings with a scant 1.98 ERA and opponent batting average of .225.

Pley has worked 93 1/3 innings with a 2.03 ERA and .233 opponent batting average. The two have been dominant without relying heavily on strikeouts, combining for 89; four fewer than the conference's individual strikeout leader produced. So that means the Cardinals' dynamic duo excel at forcing batters into harmless ground balls with little opportunity to manufacture runs.

Alison Superka, Juniata Catcher

Alison Superka has been outstanding at the plate for Juniata throughout the 2024 season and beyond, but is especially hot heading into the Landmark Conference Tournament.

Superka is on a 10-game hitting streak, including a spell of three multiple-hit performances over a four-game stretch late in the regular season. She is batting .380 for the campaign with 26 RBI, four home runs and has stolen five bases on five attempts.

Kylie Russell and Avery Eiswerth, Lycoming Pitchers

Another strong starting pitching combination that could carry the team to the Landmark championship, Lycoming's Kylie Russell and Avery Eiswerth have been equally impressive in 2024.

Russell has worked 90 innings, with Eiswerth pitching 90 1/3 innings. Russell has struck out 82 batters, while Eiswerth has punched out 80. In Russell's case, she has compiled more strikeouts than hits allowed (80). Her ERA is just 2.02, while Eiswerth is sporting a respectable 3.02.
