The Texas Cowboy Reunion Is A Hot Spot For UPRA Members

The Texas Cowboy Reunion is one of the hottest stops for the United Professional Rodeo Association (UPRA) Cowboy Christmas Bonus Tour. The time around the Fourth of July is known as Cowboy Christmas because of all the rodeos and money up for grabs, and Texas Cowboy Reunion will be no exception on June 28 to July 1 in Stamford, Texas.

The UPRA is one of the largest amateur rodeo associations, and it sanctions the Texas Cowboy Reunion, meaning any money won at the event will count in the 2017 UPRA standings for anyone who has a current 2017 UPRA membership card, thus helping contestants qualify for the UPRA finals.

The UPRA also has a separate set of standings for competitors to qualify for the Stand United Finals. Money won by current UPRA members at rodeos that are designated as Stand United rodeos, such as the Texas Cowboy Reunion, will count toward those standings.

But that isn't the only benefit for current UPRA members. The UPRA also has a special Cowboy Christmas Tour Bonus up for grabs. The UPRA has selected the Texas Cowboy Reunion as one of five rodeos to count toward the Cowboy Christmas Bonus.

Contestants in the tie-down roping, breakaway roping, barrel racing, and team roping must compete in four of the five rodeos to be eligible to win the bonus. Rough stock competitors and steer wrestlers have to compete at three of the five rodeos to be eligible for the bonus. The high money winner in each event will win a $1,500 cash bonus, which can make a huge difference in contestants being able to advance to the UPRA or Stand United Finals.
