Shane Slack wins the average and the fastest calf in the Open Tiedown RFD TV's the American Qualifier at Barry Burk's Jr Roping Roundup in Ardmore, Okla.

Barry Burk's Day 1 Recap
Day 1 of Barry Burk's Jr Roping Roundup kicked off with the Open Tiedown roping, which was also a qualifier for RFD TV's The American. The American qualifier is a side-pot, meaning you enter the roping, then enter the qualifier in addition to the regular jackpot. There were 5 spots awarded for contestants to compete at RFD TV's The American Semi Finals in Fort Worth next February for their chance to advance to Dallas Cowboy's Stadium for The American and a chance at their share of a million dollars to the top 5 people in the average who entered the side-pot. 

Ryan Thibodeaux started Round 1 with a fast run of 9.19 seconds, his time held the entire round for him to win Round 1. 

Round 1 Results: 
  1. ​Ryan Thibodeaux- 9.19 seconds
  2. Riley Meyer- 9.53
  3. King Pickett- 9.55
  4. Shane Slack- 10.73
  5. Blair Burk- 11.14
  6. Chris Mccuistion- 11.58
Round 2 got a little faster than the first round, with Raeben Meyer tying one in 8.79 seconds. Ryan Thibodeaux stayed consistent and in the average with a 10.16 second run. 

Round 2 Results: 
  1. ​Raeben Meyer- 8.79 seconds
  2. Zack Jongblood- 9.02
  3. Riley Meyer- 9.09
  4. John Michael Elliott- 9.28
  5. Shane Slack- 9.82
  6. Ryan Thibodeaux- 10.16
Round 3 proved to be the toughest round. There were several guys going for round money who were out of the average. But, Shane Slack did not back off or safety up in Round 3 after placing in the first two rounds. He was the first gunner in round 3, and captured the fastest run of the roping, winning the fast time rope can with an 8.43 second run. Slack won Round 3 and captured the average win, which qualified him for RFD TV's The American Semi Finals.

  3. Austin Atkinson- 9.87
  4. Raeben Meyer- 10.15
  5. Wyatt Imus- 10.35
  6. Blair Burk- 10.80

Average Results: 
  1. ​Shane Slack- 28.98 seconds on 3 head
  2. Ryan Thibodeaux- 30.59
  3. John Michael Elliott- 32.49
  4. Blair Burk- 33.85
  5. Austin Atkinson- 35.44
  6. King Pickett- 35.61

Shane Slack was awarded a saddle for winning the average and a rope can for having the fastest time of the entire roping.
