Kylar Terlip may still be in high school, but she is already putting together a lengthy rodeo resume. The 17-year-old from Frontenac, Kansas, has been on the back of a horse since she was a toddler and started running barrels around the age of 7. Since then, she has won at pretty much every level in her age group over the years. This past weekend, she stole the show at the 36th annual Josey Jr. World at the home of RE and Martha Josey in Karnack, Texas, by winning both the 1D Championship and Reserve Championship!

FloRodeo: Tell us about the horses you won on at Josey Jr. World.
Terlip: I won it on Guys Voodoo Bug, who is 14 years old and by Frenchmans Guy and out of Voodoo Martha by Marthas Six Moons. He was bred and raised by Bill and Deb Myers in South Dakota, and trainer Monica McClung bought him as a 3-year-old. She trained him and owned him until last year, when we bought him.

I was reserve champion on Guys Cashn In. He is also by Frenchmans Guy and out of Im Financed by Dash For Perks. He is a 6-year-old stud and was raised by Melissa Brandt in South Dakota. Tom and Linda Kay bought him as a 3-year-old from Brandt and sent him to Marne Loosenort to train and futurity him. Loosenort made the finals on him at Fort Smith in the derby last year, and then I got him the end of September. Linda and Tom still own him, but they handed me the reins to pilot him which I am very thankful for!

What do you enjoy most about Josey Jr. World?
Everyone at Josey's is so welcoming, and it is one of my favorite places to go! This year was my 10th Junior World, and it is special because I have basically grown up going to Josey's.

Rumor has it that it was your birthday on Sunday as well as Mother's Day. Tell us about how that made the win even more special.
It was very cool to win it on Mother's Day and my birthday, because I was born on Mother's Day and last year my mom couldn't make it, so it was fun that she was there this year! Both of my grandmas were also there, which also made the day extra special!

You won Josey Jr. World last year as well. How exciting is it to have won it two years in a row?
It is very exciting to say the least! I feel extremely fortunate to have the horses that I have. I couldn't do it without them or the support from my family and my friends!

I would also like to extend a huge THANK YOU to my sponsors who keep me and my horses going: OE Nutraceuticals, Outlaw Equine, Schneider Performance Pads, Hustle and Home, Desert Rose Equine, PHT Magnets, Texas Lead Ropes, Marshas Closet and CR Ranchwear. I would also like to thank my parents, grandparents, and stepmom for always supporting me! Finally, I would like thank Tom and Linda Kay for letting me ride "Cash" and Monica McClung for selling "Jock" to me!
