12-year-old Jordan Morman from Gillette, Wyoming took home top honors this past weekend at the Kelly Kaminiski Run For Vegas Jr NFR Barrel Race. Mormon rode Frenchmansfancypants “Remi” to the win and is very thankful for the mare’s solid effort and try every run that she makes.

“Remi has been a blessing and I am very grateful for her. She has won multiple races and has a very nice reputation. I am lucky to be her jockey,” Morman explained about the 8-year-old black mare.

Frenchmansfancypants is by Frenchmans Six Dash and she is out of Canta Little Joan who is by Canta Peppy. The talented “Remi” shut the clock off in Gillette with a smoking fast time of 14.835-seconds.

Since Morman had already qualified for Vegas at the Jr NFR qualifier in Loveland, Colorado, she didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to run again in her backyard.

The first qualifier that I ran in was in Loveland, Colorado and I qualified in the senior division coming in second place with a 17.539. Although I had already qualified, this jackpot was in my backyard and I never pass up a good barrel race. I also knew the other girls who were running and we always push one another to run and improve.

Having grown up in the same town as NFR qualifier Cassidy Kruse, Morman looks up to Kruse for many reasons, including her perseverance and determination.

“I will always be thankful for Cassidy (Kruse) for giving me my first ride on a barrel horse when I was 4. She has been a great friend and mentor and I was there at the NFR in 2015 when she made it, cheering her on,” said Morman.”

In addition to Kruse, Morman also looks up to another NFR qualifier and World Champion Fallon Taylor.

“Recently I got to attend Fallon Taylor’s Run Home Tour Clinic in Big Piney, Wyoming. I really have a lot of respect for Fallon and admire how she sets goals, plans to accomplish them and then sets another goal. She is really grounded and kind to everyone and she even let me wear her World Champion buckle for a few minutes at the 2016 NFR.”

With her ticket punched to Vegas in December, Morman is going to take the next few months to mentally and physically prepare so that she will be able to set her goal and knock them out of the park!

We wish you the best of luck, Jordan!
